Good morning, please have a problem, in Server R910
- Server R910 not booting
- LCD Indicate 2 error code:
- E1000 : Failsafe voltage error. Contact support.
- E1219 : Disk Backplane power failure. Check BP power cable.
We have Remove and reseat the backplane ( P/N J565K x 16 HDDs ) and remains the same

I need to add an Intel X540 to an R730xd server. After I add the card, all the cooling fans run at full speed and are extremely noisy. I have tried moving the card to different slots and taking the card in and out of the server. The fan speed is at maximum whenever the card is present in any slot.
How can I reduce the fan speed back to "normal" with this card present? The server is running Windows Server 2016.
We got a PowerEdge R820 Server. Frequently we receive alert saying that the CPU1 Temperature sensor as return with a failure value.
I know for a fact that is a bug because the returned value ( -54c, -110c, -123c, etc)
Sensor come back to normal a couple of seconds later.
Anyone have a idea where this come from? Could it be the Motherboard?

I just started working for a company who uses Dell SANS and servers. So right to the point.
We have a Dell M1000e in out data center. I have zero experience with it. I do know there is a
CMC web console option to connect to it and get familier but the person before me lest little to no
documentation. I am going to visit the DC and was wondering what I need to connect physical and
to find out what IPs are on there for the CMC. Sorry to sound like a noob but I am new to Dell SANs and Blade Centers. I would imagine I could connect to a serial console or something.

When I power-on the server and let it stay in BIOS setup, i.e. without any activity of the OS, one can hear ongoning disk activity. It sound like the SAS controller is reading all sectors for defect tracks, or the like.
I have here a 13 seconds recording, the noise is best to hear between second 4 and 11: http://www.unixarea.de/dell-pe-r210-disk.ogg
After one hour of sitting so, the noise stops.
Any ideas?
The OS boots fine and works fine, for example building FreeBSD world and kernel, without any problem.

We are trying to re-purpose a ex GSA PowerEdge R720xd server.
After spending some time trying to get access to the BIOS and finding several posts which said it was impossible on a GSA server we opted to replace the system board with a standard PowerEdge R720xd.
This appears to have gone well, the system boots, the RAM and both processors are detected, but then the below is displayed.
"PCIe Training Error: Integrated RAID"
"System Halted!"
Can't get into any BIOS, Lifecycle Management as this message is always displayed.
We have tried re-seating the RAID card and the little LED on the card lights up, but this message is still displayed.
Have I missed something? Is it because there may still be a RAID config on the card? Is there a way to clear this without being able to get into RAID setup?

We bought an R320 with minimal processor punch in Nov 2015 and looking to either add to or replace the current E5-1403 processor on it.
I called in to get a recommendation from Dell, they told me that the R320 processor cant be upgraded, I argued briefly stating that their documentation lists all the supported processors. Long story, short, I hung up as the dude didn't have a clue and just said he talked to his supervisor.
I thought we could save a couple of dollars with a processor swap instead of buying a new system.
Any thoughts?

I just bought a Dell Poweredge T130. I used it for a day, basically using Windows Server 2012.
Last night, after watching some videos, I had the brilliant idea to update Bios.
Using "Dell Lifecycle Controller", I chose FTP option with ftp.dell.com.
It downloaded all the updates, but at some point, I had to leave the room for a minute or two. After camming back, the system was locked on the "Loading Bios".
Rebooted manually (several times) and got the same problem over and over. First it runs "Checking Memory" (or something like that). Then "Loading Bios". The progress bar gets about 30% and freezes.
About 10 seconds after rebooting, a amber light starts to blink both in front of the server as well in the back.
Searching this forum and other places, I already tryed resetting NVRAM by moving the jumpers, but nothing changed.
I am afraid (really afraid) that my motherboard bricked somehow.
Can someone give me some hope?
Really frustrated since it was my first server and my first day with it.

I tried to use invCol.exe located in C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\cm\invcol but it neglects to report anything on network adapters.

I’m simply trying to update BIOs (6.3 -> 6.4) on some Dell PowerEdge M610s.
I’ve downloaded the BIOs based on service tag and successfully updated a bunch of these m610s by running the .exe within windows, server then restarts and successfully applies the BIOs update.
My issue is I’m running into a few M610s that yield “doDepcheck Failed” (screenshot below) when I try this method.
These problematic m610s are on:
- BIOs 6.3
- iDrac 6 v3.8
- Open Manage 8.4
Any suggestions on how I can resolve this issue? Thank you all for your time.

I was looking for a low TPD CPU to go in my Dell R210, so replaced the stock i3-540 with a Xeon L3426 @1.87GHz and ever since I'm seeing a very high CPU temperature:

and goes up to even 78C, which is unreasonably high to me for a 1.87GHz CPU. Also in the dmesg, there are reported during every boot:

With 3.06GHz i3, it was mostly 44C - 47C, in average. With ipmitoolmost of the temp. readings are coming as Disabled but Ambient Temp is only 13C:

Do you think the sensors are not properly working? Or is it because of 32nm vs. 45nm lithography, as 45nm tends to generate more heat? Power consumption is also a bit high to me for a 45 TPD CPU.
Or i was better off with i3-540? The whole practice was to minimize power consumption Can anyone help?

Hello forum, I have an r710 running windows server 2012 r2 that needs a bios and lifecycle controller update.
I have had problems in the past on other servers applying these updates via an suu image.
Currently the bios is on version 2.1.9 and the updated version is 6.4.0. This is quite a version jump!
The lifecycle controller is on version 1.4.0.445 and it will update to version 1.7.5.4. This is a bit of a version jump as well.
Do these 2 updates need to be applied in a specific order?
Would it be best to use the suu image from inside windows or try to push these updates via drac or OMSE?

Yesterday I shutdown the server meant to actually restart the machine and booted it back up to discover that port that was connected started not working correctly. For one whenever we disabled it or removed the cable the bottom right icon always showed the yellow triangle no red x which we was weird. After some troubleshooting we decided to switch to different port and then we could have internet access. Does anybody possibly know what may of caused this problem or any possibly solutions before we replace the motherboard or the entire switch. Thank you in advance
I've got a R510 that is running 1.2.10 BIOS. I need to upgrade to 1.12.0 but understand I need to upgrade one BIOS version at a time.
Thus far I have the following BIOS versions
1.9.0
1.10.2
1.11.0
I attempted to upgrade to 1.9.0 but that is still to high for the update to stick. I tried to search the Dell Archives and this is as far as I have gotten.
Anyone able to supply me with the BIOS versions between 1.2.10 and 1.9.0?
