Hello
We have 3, few years old C6100 machines with 4 nodes in each.
The problem is unexpected reboot of the node in every server. Time between reboots could be from 12 hours to 45 days. Some nodes rebooting more often like others. But all nodes are doing the same job – transcoding mpeg2 to h264
Reboots happening no matter:
Servers are in different data centers.
With or without UPS.
One or two PSU is enabled
IPMI is enabled or disabled
No matter which bios settings we choose (default, and various custom)
No matter which OS is installed (Debian, Centos)
No matter CPU load 15% to 80%
Server room temperature is stable ~20C, and power voltage is stable.
IPMI sensors show that everything is OK.
NO LOGS are left before rebooting. I mean OS not informing about ANY unusual activity. It just rebooting.
Problem exists from the beginning when we bought second hand servers. And now is 1,5 year. We have try dozens of different ideas but without any luck.
Finally we have manage to get some logs from IPMI

How can power off to one of 4 nodes? From one of the many servers in Data center?
Additional info:
Servers nodes are with dual Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650 @ 2.67GHz , RAM~ 16GB
OS: Debian GNU/Linux 8
Soft: ffmpeg version 2.2 or ffmpeg version 3.0.2

Hi,
I have a SSL v3 vulnerability on my Idrac 7. I have found the and installed the latest firmware ( iDRAC7 1.66.65), but the vulnerability still exist.
Is the DRAC7 1.66.65 firmware the latest ?
Kind regards
Jeroen Louwers
Trying to update all firmwares in a R710, i'm unable to start the LCC.
System hangs with the warning:
unable to launch system services image
system halted!
Any idea ? How can I replace the system service image (and where is located ?)
Hi,
Like to seek help on our production machine Dell PE T620 (with tag =<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>),
We might be having problems on the gigabit broadcom extreme network card or perhaps Windows.
We’ve setup HyperV on it:
1st VM running windows2012 R1 standard server Active directory server domain, DNS and DHCP services
2nd VM running legacy windows2003 standard server, for development/test environment & batch jobs
Both VMs are using the virtual switch manager to share the network connection.
Often times, We’re getting intermittent network problems on the VMs, ping test of very high latency (300ms-2000ms)
and RTOs to worst of NO connections on both VM1 and 2.
There are good days and bad days, worst case we had to restart VM1 and 2 to restore its operation and stability.
What could cause HyperV to loose network connectivity on the VM1 and 2?
The network (built in Intel Gigabit) on the bare metal OS seems to be stable, when the incident happens.
Another warning We're getting an exclamation mark (blue) on the DHCP service in the 1st VM,
but there are available IPs that are still usable.
Would appreciate any help.

Hello, i have a Dell Poweredge 2950 server pc running on windows server 2008. I installed the video driver correctly but need driver for LAN and Audio. Can anyone help me out?
I have looked through a lot of similar posts but still am unsure of how I should approach this.
We have a PE R510 Single CPU with 3x8GB memory modules. Current Memory Operating Mode is Optimizer.
Current Configuration (according to OMSA):
DIMM_A1: 8GB DDR3
DIMM_A2: 8GB DDR3
DIMM_A3: 8GB DDR3
DIMM_A4: Empty
DIMM_B1: Empty
DIMM_B2: Empty
DIMM_B3: Empty
DIMM_B4: Empty
I have 2x16GB modules on hand and am wondering if it is possible to add these 2 modules to this server to increase available memory. Is it possible and if so what slots would I add them to?
Thanks
Kevin
Anybody know the rated AMP usage for the poweredge 840 server tower?
I believe it's a quadcore 3200, if that makes a difference.
Can't seem to find it anywhere
Thanks
Hello to all. I have an old but sturdy PowerEdge T610 that was running WinSrvr2k3. I updated it to Windows 7 Enterprise...intending to try and upgrade it further to Win10...but now I'm getting random but VERY frequent BSOD that just say:
*** HARDWARE MALFUNCTION
Call your hardware vendor for support
*** The system has halted ***
At which point I have to hold the power button for five seconds to force a reboot.
I don't have a real purpose for this machine; it's old enough that it shouldn't be used for mission-critical applications. But I just hate to throw away something that was built like a tank, especially if all it needs is an OS update.
So if it's a simple problem of I'm doing X wrong and need to do Y...that's one thing. If it's a massive hunt to find the problem, then off to the Goodwill electronics recycling bin it goes.
Anyone have any suggestions on next steps?
TIA!
- Aaron
I have an old but sturdy PowerEdge T610 that was recently removed from a mission-critical application. I'm fiddling with it to see if I can update the OS from Windows Server 2003 to something more modern and maybe use it for something not mission-critical. I put Windows 7 Enterprise on it (fresh install) and now I'm randomly but frequently getting BSOD with the following message:
*** Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
*** The system has halted ***
This isn't much help for diagnostics, so I'm not sure if this is a simple issue of I'm doing X wrong and need to do Y instead...or if there's something more seriously wrong with the system and I need to do a lot of diagnostics to fix it.
If it's simple, then it's simple. But if it's not simple, this machine is too old to justify a lot of effort. I'll just recycle it.
Anyone got any idea what might be wrong and whether or not it'd be a simple fix? Any and all ideas welcome! :)
TIA!
Hello,
I'm having a problem with one of our PowerEdge 730 servers. When I'm rebooting the server, I sometimes get the error:
"PWR1006: The system halted because system power exceeds capacity".
The LED display then becomes red and the server doesn't boot and is not available via iDRAC. I have to wait for a few moments/minutes, then iDRAC is available again and I can boot the server without any issues afterwards.
There are two 750W PSUs (PN: 0V1YJ6A00) installed and the power consumption on this machine is far from any limits (like 150W on average).
Anybody got any ideas on that?
Please can someone tell me where I find the technical description of Motherboard Dell PowerEdge T410 2 Lga 1366 0h19hd H19hd?
Buen dia
Alguien podría ayudarme tengo la siguiente situación:

I have a Dell R720, that I have taken down to minimal specs and it's not allowing me boot into bios or anything else. The keyboard works up until the post is done, and once I try to hit F2 or anything else the num lock goes off and the server no longer accepts keystrokes. I can hold the power button down, shut if off and back on, only to get the same result. I have tried different keyboards, different USB ports, monitor plugged into the front and back and not plugged in at all and always the same result.
I have seen one or two other post about this issue, and have yet to resolve it. Is there a way I can use the console port on the back to see what the server is doing and where/why it's locking up? Also an odd part is that the cursor keeps flashing at the bottom once it has stopped accepting keyboard strokes.
I know the bios is out of date, but I have no way of updating it now as the machine won't get past POST. Does anyone have any idea what would cause it to hang like this? Is there a fix for it? I'd rather not have to buy a new system board.
Any thoughts or things I could try I should be able to accomplish and test. Thanks in advance!
Hi All,
I recently bought this Dell PowerEdge CS24-NV7 as home lab server, and I am looking for a way to upgrade it's BIOS, but so far I had no joy in using Dell tools.
Has anyone ever updated it's BIOS?
The actual BIOS is Phoenix TrustedCore Bios v1.89 from 2010.
Thank you
Do all 3 gens of the poweredge 2900 use the same type of ram? I have a dell poweredge 2900 III, and am looking at a ram upgrade that's listed as compatible with the first gen, its PC2-5300F. Wondering if this will work for my 2900 gen 3.
Also, can anyone shed some light on what the max RAM capacity is for the 2900 III.
Thanks guys!
have been battling with this for the last week or so now and do not seem to be making any progress.
my usual approach on 12G and upwards servers is to connect to an FTP site (dell or latterly internal) this works well however i need to update the firmware images on the seagate disk, and this doesnt seem possible through the lifecycle controller, have even tried using CD or USB option and the DUP is present and is in the catalog xml the lifecycle controller update utility just never sees them. i assume this probably means that these components are not updatable via the lifecycle controller. this leads me onto the next issue, in this instance i would usually create a bootable linux iso using DRM however since the latest plugin 830 update my DRM received this week no image i now create in DRM is bootable by the host, its complaining about not being able to mount the CD even though its loaded the 2 SA packs from it.
so in short 2 questions
1, how to update disk firmware on a 12G system running ESXi 5.5
2, whats gone wrong with the latest plugin that is causing me to not be able to create bootable linux ISO's?
