Help! I have Dell T610 that someone previously managed. I'm trying to track down the source of some performance issues related to ESXi 5.5, so I started by checking the firmware through the platform controller. This server only has one embedded dual port NIC, but for some reason the platform controller is listing it twice indicating that the first NIC has the correct firmware installed, but then lists a second "phantom" NIC (same MAC addresses and everything), but indicates that it currently has the wrong firmware and recommends a previous version be installed.
I tried running the Linux .bootable firmware .iso to see what it would do, and the same thing. It also recognizes the phantom NIC, recommends the older 7.12.19 firmware, but doesn't install it automatically as the installed version is newer.
What gives? The ESXi host only seems to recognize the 1 NIC, as it should. DO I even need to worry about it? Should I allow it to downgrade the phantom NIC to a previous version? Do I need to clear the nvRam (if I do, will I lose any of the Raid information)? Anyone else come across this before?
Thanks!
