Would a PE2900MB (and raid card i supposed) fit in a PE1900 chassis?
They look pretty much the same, but the 2900 has better ram and CPU support. Hence why i wish to possibly change.

We have a Dell r720xd server and we are try to extend storage on server using new PowerVault MD1200 containing the 12 2.5" disks. The problem is when we install SAS Card to the PCI Slot, server didnt load up successfully and stuck on the below error. We tried replacing with new SAS Card, new Riser Card and even the motherboard. But server stuck on the below screen. The moment you take that SAS Card out, server looks good and boot fine. Please suggest to proceed.

PowerEdge T610 Processors + Memory Question
1. Is it possible to insert two different CPUs in CPU 1 and CPU 2 Socket?
Im my case in CPU 1-Socket: Intel Xeon X5675@3.06GHz and in CPU 2-Socket: Intel Xeon E5620@2.40GHz
2. Each Processor has its own Memory Controller.
Is it possible to insert different DDR3 DIMMs for each Processor?
In my case in CPU 1-DIMM Slot: 3x 16GB in A1,A2,A3 and in CPU 2-DIMM Slot: 3x 4GB in B1,B2,B3?
Ho un errore su un server R710 - E1717

Where can I download Latest Firmware for Dell Blade Chassis M1000e

Hi Dell Poweredge 2900 Server. Dual Processor, 20 Gb RAM, 6 HD arranged as 3 RAID 1 arrays on a Dell Perc 5i controller.
The server has stopped booting automatically - it will only boot by pressing F2 and F10 keys.
Start sequence is:
1. BIOS loaded
2. Screen with processor and memory details then appear
3. Then stops / hangs
4. Press F2 and F10 and get into BIOS / Boot order - select normal and it will then boot.
Background - server cooling fans (Fan 4 motherboard memory) failed and have now been replaced. Server fans were running full speed for 24 hours while replacement fan obtained. Dell Diagnostics and Open Manage now show everything working normally correctly. Cleaned processors and fan with brush and now running smoothly / quietly. Boot problem appeared about 1 week before fan failed
The first message that comes up after the F2 F10 keys is
Broadcom NetXtreme II Ethernet Boot Agent V4.4.4
The the PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller BIOS - then it initialises the firmware and finds the 3 logical drives etc
I have tried to reflash the bios. Perhaps I need to disable the Broadcom NetXtreme?
Thanks
Hey there
I spent 2 days trying to figure out how to install a SSD Fusion IO HP 320GB PCIe ioDrive MLC IO Accelerator into my Dell Poweredge T620. I went on the HP website for drivers and firmware update and nothing.. You can't even choose to boot from bios or UEFI.. Anybody here installed a 3rd party card with success?
I am trying to install Windows 2012 R2 using the Lifecycle Controller and it is beyond slow to load or even take my click responses. The ISO is local to the server where I am accessing iDRAC from. I am running the latest firmware on the M620 and this is taking hours and hours to even get to the part where it asks where do you want to install Windows. Any suggestions? BTW, I am using IE.
Hello,
Looking for a little confirmation, I currently have an R320 which was supplied with 24GB (6X4GB) and would like to knock this up to 64GB.
Has anyone got suggestions of RAM? I'm looking at obtaining x2 32GB of the following:
Samsung Server Memory Module 32 GB 1866MHz DDR3
Hi,
I have 5 Dell m1000e chassiswith 16 blades each.
When I need to use the DRAC to manage the blades, everything is SO SLOW... it can take 30 seconds to a minute for each click.
Ex: I'M in the cassis overview, I click on one blade it takes 40 seconds. I then click on Launch DRAC GUI it takes 40 seconds to show the ssl warning, I click on continue and another 40 seconds... to get to the GUI..
any idea?
The DRACs of the chassis and blades are on the same isolated VLAN.
Hi all,
I have Dell PowerEdge C1100 (model CS24-TY).
I'm trying to locate the Dell part number for the optional 10 GBe mezzanine card described in ftp.dell.com/.../poweredge-c1100_Owner's%20Manual_en-us.pdf on page 78.
Any clues leading to identifying this card would be greatly appreciated!
I am trying to get a Power Edge 2850 and 1850 to run Windows Server 2012, so far It gets past the loading screen then will reboot. I believe it has something to do with the drivers but not sure.
Hi
I want to start implementing virtual servers (virtual datacenter) for my company but don't have an idea where to start as I've never worked with VMs before.
This will be a total new infrastructure of about 5 - 7 servers
Thank you

I was working through the config options of the Qlogic (broadcom) 10G nics.
Noticed there was a virtulisation config (I am running vmware).

Anyone know if the PowerEdge T410 with the 1.12.0 BIOS is compatible with Xeon X5680's? The release notes indicate the system is compatible with 5600 series processors but I am unable to get the server to actually boot with them installed.
What I have tried:
Reset BIOS - NO-GO-
Reflashed BIOS to 1.12.0 - NO-GO-
Removed all other processors and RAM leaving only bank 1 - NO-GO-
Installed a single (didn't have another) "known-good" X5650 6-Core 130watt processor - ALL-GOOD-
I am now under the impression that BIOS 1.12.0 is NOT compatible with X5680 processors.
Can someone assist and verify this for me? My Google-Fu is not returning any results...
Thanks in advance for your time...

Hi all.
One of my venerable PowerEdge 2400 servers is damaging power supplies. In my efforts to isolate the problem by parts swapping with a working server I managed to wreck five power supplies before discovering that this was the problem. I now have no more spare power supplies. Given funding limitations I want to repair the damaged power supplies. Where can I get manuals or schematics that will guide me through fault isolation and repair for the power supplies.
Thx
I am looking to reduce the noise of a R910 Poweredge server. I have modified the fans, which has helped reduced the noise, but not enough. As an alternative, I am considering water cooling kits and was wondering whether anyone else here has used water cooling on a Poweredge. Any info would be appreciated.
I assume some fan will still be needed to keep other components (like memory) relatively cool, although the Poweredge monitoring system may have to be fooled to make this work.
Hi,
My name is sreeraj. Im working as an IT infrastructure engineer. My client wants to create a virtualized Infrastructure by using VMware horizon view. And users will be zero clients. Users needs to get high graphics for their application. Shall I go with Dell power edge T 620 server?..Please give some suggestions
Hey folks,
I started a new thread vs resurrecting the old one in the hopes that someone knows how to deal with this.
Currently have R730XDs with Intel X710 NICs.
Situation is that PXE performance via ESXI Auto Deploy is horrible, and we cannot install Ubuntu over PXE due to the NIC not being detected.
I've tried and tried to get this to work, even trying to boot a stateless Ubuntu to see what would happen, and it kernel panics because it cannot detect the interfaces.
Would someone mind letting me know if there is a way to resolve this?
I won a university prize for a neural network (and some OpenMP and MPI coursework) on a HPC system.
The prize is a Xeon Phi 31S1p passively cooled 59 processor card.
I saw a Dell Power Edge for sale ( Dell PowerEdge R710 Server 2 x X5550 2.67Ghz QC / 32GB /Perc 6 / 2 x PSU 870W ).
Just to confirm if this server supports
** An X16/X16 PCIe slot
** a motherboard with 64-bit BAR support.
** 2 x 870W PSU should be enough(?)
** Very good airflow as "this is a passive card that will idle around 70W and hit close to 300W under load. If you don’t have air moving through it you will see it’s magic smoke escape"
In short,
Will a Xeon Phi 31S1p work in a Dell Power Edge 710..?
Thanks.
