currently have four 1GB sticks in the server poweredage 2900 .in slots 1, 2, 3, and 4
I need installing two 2 GB sticks . (which is where I assume I should put the new two 2GB sticks to become the total memory 8 GB ).
thank you .

Hey all,
I have a Dell PowerEdge R320 with an external USB hard drive device connected. If I plug it up in Windows, it's detected fine, no problems. When I reboot however I get stuck on "initializing firmware interfaces". I have let it sit for 45 minutes and it will not progress. Now, if I unplug the USB it will, or if I hard power cycle the server it will also boot up.
I have disabled the Life Cycle Controller and the hardware inventory collection on boot with no results. Anyone have any answers for this??? This server was bought specifically to run this USB hard drive device.
Hi,
This might sound stupid but is it possible to replace the current CPU of my PowerEdge T110 II server to a CPU with more cores?
Regards,
Tim
Hi,
I've Dell Blade PowerEdge M610 server in a M1000e chassis. All the servers gets rebooted itself without any reason. Kindly help me to fix this.

I've just replaced the 2 batteries in my UPS 500W. The display has turned orange (as it was before I replaced the 2 batteries). I've updated the firmware to 01.14.0003.
I'm not sure I'm doing something wrong but I also get the Alarm #149 Service Battery warning.
I've downloaded the manual the see if I was missing something and I don't know what to do right now. I've installed the UPS Management Software Manager and that's the screenshot
have a PowerEdge t105, where/what type of battery can i buy to replace this?
We are trying to add a 10G nic to our R620 server. Adding it to the exisiting riser. When we power the server, receive CPU1 has an internal error (IERR). Remove card, no troubles. How do I bypass?
I think I have a Dell R210ii XL OEMR server and I can't find any documentation on what these jumpers are for.
On page 115 of the Owner's Manual for the R210 II it points out the PWRD_EN and NVRAM_CLR jumpers, but makes no mention of the jumpers I am inquiring about.
If anyone knows, please share. Thank you!
Just a quick Q re: 'boot time' in our PER320.. Today (yes, Easter Sunday, of all days ...) I needed to shutdown this server to do a 'disk upgrade' (larger, of course) and was reminded of something I wanted to ask this forum regarding what seems to me to be a phenomenally'slow' boot-up from total power-down.
FYI: The hardware in this server consists of the 'stock' E5-2407 XEON 2.2 GHz 'quad-core' that it came with, the 'upgraded' 32 GB of RAM I added last fall, the 'stock' RAID-1 2 TB 'boot' /DATA drives, a third 2 TB disk I added late this past year, and now this brand new W/D 'Red' 4 TB disk I just added. When I powered-up again I was reminded of the amazingly slow boot-up we've been experiencing for quite some time ... From a total 'power-off' scenario to a 'functional desktop' takes IN EXCESS of 12 to as much as 15-16 minutes .. which I believe is kinda 'excessive'... (or maybe I'm just impatient..). Today, it seemed to take, like, FOREVER to 'clear' the 'usual' boot messages about '..waiting for the local user account" or " waiting for the local group policy ...", etc.. All of our earlier servers were locally built "white-box' tower systems with Core2-Quad processors or i5 processors (all of which were clocking at 2.8 - 3.2 GHz and accommodated up to 16 GB of RAM), but this is the first Dell XEON rackmount system we've ever had, and as such, I have no idea what the 'normal' boot-times SHOULD be, considering this system hardware ... Does this sound like a 'reasonable' boot-time? As I remember it, the old servers booted up practically as fast a workstation desktop (well, maybe... my memory being what it is ...) albeit that these were all running Server 2000 or Server 2003, at that time. So, is Server 2012 Essentials really THAT slow and cumbersome, or is this something to do with simple processing power/speed? - or do I have problem I need to 'research'..? As yet, I have not gotten 'approval' for the E5-2470 'octal-core' that I want for this, and my hope is that WHEN I get approval, this will help me to 'cope' with what I see as a significantly slow boot-up. Am I just impatient, or is this 'normal' ? Or AM I looking at some issue with this server?
Have a T630 with iDRAC 8 Enterprise f/w 2.21.21 (Build 12). Would like to pass the Ctrl+Esc key sequence to the system, but this is intercepted by Windows. This occurs regardless of whether the 'Pass all keystrokes to target' option is checked, or if I am in full screen mode. On a T620 and iDRAC 7 Enterprise, this sequence could be passed to the Dell system. Any one have ideas on how to enable the pass through of this sequence?
Hopefully someone could help me here.
I purchased 3 of the Dells Dual In-Line Memory Module 8G, 1066, $R, X8, 4WYKP to upgrade my memory to 24GB, i removed the built in 2GB and put in the 3 GB sticks in Slots (1, 2, and 3), however, i get a warning message on boot,
Unsupported Memory Configuration Detected.
The memory configuration is not optimal, The recommended memory configuration is
Slots A1 A3 A5 A2 A4 A6
DIMMA DIMM A
Now it does detect the system memory to 24GB and if i remove my 3rd 8GB stick i dont get the warning, not sure what slot combination i should use to be able to use the 24GB without the warning.
Appreciate any help.
We have two Intel OEM X520-DA2 server adapters (dual SFP+ interfaces), that have unlocked preboot firmware. However, if I put these adapters into a Dell PowerEdge R430 server, the BIOS will see the adapters but the Lifecycle controller sees their firmware version as "blank" and therefore can't upgrade them to fully Dell support versions.
Is there a way to be able to flash these OEM adapters with Dell compatible firmware, so that the Lifecycle controller can properly recognize them and update their firmware in the future, should firmware fixes get released in the future?
Hello
We have a 1950. I've tried everything I know to get DRAC working on this chassis, so looking to upgrade firmware.
The supported Xen Server version is 5.6. What is installed on the chassis is 6.5.
Does anyone have direct experience with installing firmware updates this way? Any suggestions to work around?
thanks
Subject pretty much says it all.
We've received an upgraded CPU for our PowerEdge T320. The new CPU shipped with a new heatsink and it appears that there is a thermal pad of paste on the bottom of the heatsink.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows if I need to or would recommend that I put additional thermal paste on the chip before mounting the heatsink.
Can someone confirm if the E3110 SLAPM stepping C0 is validated for the PowerEdge T100? I couldn't find the SLB9C stepping E0. Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
I got the problem, that I cant connect to the virtual console of any iDRAC. My system is running Windows 10 Pro x64 and Java Version 8.77 x32 and x64. I got the same issues in Firefox 45.0.1 and IE 11. In the security-settings of the Java control panel the IPs of the servers I want to use are entered. Any ideas?
Thank you for your support!
Hi, I'm interested in upgrade my server and change the cpu for a dual core, right now the Intel xeon 3060 2.4 ghz seems fit my requirements, but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the Poweredge 2850 (although reading the technical specifications looks ok)
I'd appreciate if you can confirm me than this cpu works ok with the poweredge and if it's not, then suggest me the best cpu upgrade, thanks
Best regards
