Hello all. Hoping someone can advise on a nagging problem. I have an out-of-warranty T610 server that recently started having a hard drive issue. The RAID reported a SMART error, so I replaced removing and replacing the drive in the same slot a few times to see if it would rebuild. It would not. Next, I tried the same drive in a different bay, and it too reported the same SMART error and wouldn't rebuilt. I decided to replace the drive with a new one. However, when I plugged it into the bay the original failure occurred in, the new drive also failed rebuilding (but no SMART error). I also moved the new drive to another empty bay, and it shows "Ready".
From this troubleshooting, I figured I might have a bad backplane, cable or RAID card, but I can't understand why it's only affecting one bay. On a whim, I ordered a replacement backplane off eBay, and installed it, but the problem is still there. Next, I could try replacing one of the SAS cables, or even the RAID card (Perc 6i), but I don't was to keep throwing away money chasing an unknown problem.
Does anyone have any ideas what I should try next?

The Dell Intel X520 DP PCIe 10gbE server network adapter (Dell P/N 540-BBDW or 540-BBDR) are listed as being compatible with the R420 and R430 but will it also work in a R410?
If not, what is the recommended 10 gbE adapter for the R410 with SFP+ interfaces?

After reading forums on Dell servers not displaying decent resolutions, I thought this might be the place to ask for help.
I have a new T630 from Dell (great machine) and it comes with Matrox G200er integrated graphics. I have a 28" 4k monitor and wanted to get a higher resolution, as it makes the work I do a lot easier.
I'm running Server 2012 R2 on the machine and I've downloaded the latest driver for the G200er and have it running at 1680 x 1050, but I want to get it higher. Even though the G200er is not that powerful, it should be able to push out a higher resolution than that...
From talking to Dell, it seems as though I am stuck, unless I purchase an extremely expensive 'supported' GPU, just to get a higher resolution.
I've read a few things online regarding altering the .inf file and/or registry entries to force higher displays, and saw the same thing on this board, but thought it might be a good idea to check with some people who know what they're talking about first.
Any ideas? Would appreciate any advice you can give.

We have purchased a VRTX PowerEdge M630 with an R1-2210 switch. We want to use one of the SFP ports so we can have a 10GB link. We cannot figure out how to map an external port to an internal port so the SFP port will show up under windows server 2012. The external port is live but how do we allow the servers to use it?
The two copper ports worked straight away with no problem, but there must be an extra step to getting SFP ports working?

My Client is having some intermittent issues with the fans on his R520 server. I have included some of the reports from the unit , initial issues and reports after the re-boot.
Our question is do you think it may be a faulty fan sensor(s) or the fans themselves? Any input would be greatly appreciated !

Hello everybody.
I got a power edge server R610 running windows 2012 R2 Standard with a hardware log that gets filled up with "oem software event" entries.
I'm pretty new at troubleshooting dell servers, so how should I proceed?
I need to enable some debug option to get the meaning of this record, or use some parsing tool that tells me the meaning.
I mean some events are filling up the esm log and I need to know which events are those (even they're informational) or maybe disable the option to log them.

Im triying to conect my dell poweredge r730 with an intel 10G x710 NIC and with the transceptor HP X210 1G SFP (rj45) to mi riverstone switch (RS-3000), but there's not link. Hovewer if I do the connection between the PowerEdge r730 and another server, the link works correctly. How can I fix that?

Just purchased a new R230 and trying to setup. One of the steps is Update the Firmware. We do not use Windows, so I downloaded the firmware file Firmware_635G9_WN64_2.23_A00-00.EXE from the product support site to my laptop. I then from Firefox on my laptop logged into the iDRAC on the server. I went to iDRAC Settings -> Update and Rollback and uploaded the file. After I upladed the file I got the following Status: Unable to complete the firmware update operation because the specified firmware image is for a component that is not in the target system inventory. How do I update the firmware?
We ran into an issue that IDRAC on our ESXI servers decided it wanted to stop working. I was able to finally get it to work on the dedicated port and not shared, but I would like to upgrade the IDRAC/Life Cycle Controller and do not see a way to download the files that you can upload in the IDRAC software itself since these are ESXI hosts and no O/S.

I've got a Poweredge R710 that currently has 32GB RAM installed via 8 x 4GB modules. I've just ordered a 32GB upgrade (2 x 16GB) from Crucial to bring the server up to 64GB in total, however no matter what configuration i put the modules in, the server just reports an invalid or non optimal configuration.
Can someone help me work out the correct configuation please?

The front LCD display on my server is not displaying any information. The backlight is lit up, but not displaying any information. Even if I open the chassis, it doesn't turn amber or anything - just stays blue. I added an attachment of a picture of what it looks like. Not sure if something is wrong or I''m not doing something right.

We have a Dell Poweredge R620 server which was purchased from Dell India. It's a 4 year old server, which we had taken offline few days ago for hardware maintenance. We noticed that the server was missing the BIOS battery cover. QRL video states that there will be a cover on the BIOS battery. However, our server doesn't have one. Many online pictures of the server actually have this part missing. Is there something that we can do to have the part ordered?

I have a bounch of servers with iDRAC "standard" and *no* dedicated port.
Can I access the remote console to see what's going on or to access BIOS configuration? I've not found any of this in the iDRAC web page.
I have an R720 with a PERC H310.
I would like to replace that with a H710p
Could you please provide me the part number? Should I change any cables?
I've seen that H710 is a mini/mono card whilst the H710P is an adapter card. Are both swappable ?
