SUU-WIN32_16.06.200.60.ISO checksum

Hi Folks,

We've downloaded SUU-WIN32_16.06.200.60.ISO several times on different networks and machines but the resultant file seems short of the 8402MB stated on the download page and the checksum is incorrect. Has anyone successfully downloaded this with the expected file size and checksum or is there a problem with the copy on the CDN?

Thanks

Kenny

I have a single power edge 2950 which I am intending to place on a table. Does there need to be space under the server for air flow or can it be placed flat on the table?

Unable to boot to DVD in UEFI

I have a R310 PowerEdge server that we are trying to repurpose. It has 3 2TB drives in a Raid 5 format. I cannot boot to DVD to install windows under UEFI, only BIOS.  This has caused me to only have access to a 2TB partition.  Any clues on how to make it boot to DVD under UEFI or to create a partition in the unallocated space?

PowerEdge 1800 Server

I've got a Dell PowerEdge 1800 that has been running fine for 10 years and I was planning to replace it in the fall.  Last night something happened and the Motherboard got a little toasty and the system died. I found a replacement MB and was looking for a new power supply to get the thing up and running and get some leeway to order a new one and get everything transferred over.  Dell has no clue about the power supply and I got tired of getting bounced around.
Does anyone by any chance know the part # for this power supply?
I am trying to order it so it will be there tomorrow or the  day after and I didn't even think about the power supply afer I found a MB. I started to think about it after I got home.

PER320 NetXtreme Connectivity Issues

Hoping someone might have experienced/fixed similar issues? We're currently have problems on a number of PER320 servers where they intermittently loose network connectivity and am unable to reset until a reboot is completed.

We have applied firmware/drivers per standard but the servers are still intermittently dropping from the network. When you log onto the server, the NIC appears connected but rx/tx does not increase. If you should try to disable the NIC and re-enable, the system hangs until reboot.

I have discovered one other post detailing exactly the same issues (https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/462368-server-regularly-losing-connectivity)

Working from this we have tried disabling RSS and offloading but the issue persists.

Poweredge 2900 Fans full speed, amber LCD but no text

I have a Poweredge 2900 that powers on and boots. But the fans come on full speed and the front LCD is amber with no text. It does complain about Remote Access Controller Initialization Failure. It boots up fine otherwise though.

I have tried updating the BIOS to 2.7.0 and disconnecting all power and removing the CMOS battery. But I still cannot clear the problem.

What can I do to fix it?

KVM Issues

Hi All,

We recently purchased a Dell R430 and installed Server 2008 R2 and installed it into our rack. Our issue is that the KVM is not responding properly. The keyboard works most of the time and the touchpad, if touched, brings up the Help (as if F1 was pressed). Everything is fine if I plug in a normal USB mouse and keyboard,

Note that our KVM is fairly old and has PS/2 connections for mouse and keyboard. I used a dual PS/2 to USB adaptor to combine the KVMs mouse and keyboard into one USB. We have two Dell R420 servers that have no issues with the PS/2 to USB adaptors.

Device Manager also lists the KVM's mouse and keyboard as HID mouse and keyboard and according to it, the two devices are working fine. Anyone know what the issue is?

TIA,

Vlad

Server shutting off due to thermal event.

Server: PowerEdge SC440 with Xeon 3050 Dual Core 2.13 GHZ Processors

Issue: The Server shuts down after a few hours with no warning whatsoever when the OS (W2K8R2) is running.

I am not in front of the server right now, but I have used Dell Diagnostics to see what the issue is but the Server passes all diagnostic tests. The only diagnostics that I could get to work are the Diagnostics that install on a CD and boot from.

Both of the fans in the front of the case (front case and CPU) can run full speed when Dell Diagnostics or 3rd party utilities are used.

The power supply fan does not run that fast though and isn't tested during Dell Diagnostics or 3rd party utilities. It is not even found....not sure if that is normal.

I find it interesting that prior to the shutdown, neither of the fans runs any faster in an attempt to cool anything.

With 3rd party utilities, I don't see any exceptional overheating prior to shutdown, but I can't just sit there and watch it either. Temps average around 40C...although Hard Drive temperature (not exactly sure what is being measured or if I even have the term right) kind of just sits at around 51C and doesn't go up or down.

I blew the heat sink and every area VERY well with compressed air. The processor heat sink was about 30% blocked with dust.

I am wondering if the CPU is permanently damaged?

I reimaged the server, but it still does the same thing.

The server will NOT shutdown if I leave it with just the BIOS running.

I checked the BIOS logs and really didn't see any error messages. Windows just gives the general shutdown was unexpected error message in Event Viewer>system.

I have ordered some heat sink compound, but that is days away from arriving.

Any ideas what might be wrong here? This thing has been a nice, quiet, energy efficient, media server and VM sandbox over the years.

I'd rather keep it if possible.

Thanks.

Getting a low fan speed alert from the network management tool we use. Threshold is set to 1300RPM and on this server, over the past 90 days, the fan speed has only been above 1300RPM a couple times. The fan has been replaced during this time period as well with no change.

Internal Power for R530 to use for SATA

R530 Has Internal
    SATA     Two Mini-SAS connectors
    Two SATA port

So I wanted to connect an SSD HD to the SATA port.
No problem.

But, where do I get the power from?

The only available power sockets I see are GPU sockets.

Can those be utilized to power the SSD Drive?

thanks,

-Sup.

The operation failed due to an invalid image file

Howdy,

I'm trying to update the SAS drives in an R610 server.  I have an SUU file that I tried to use but it failed with errors.  So I downloaded the file manually and ran it and it upgraded 2 of the drives fine but the other 2 it returned the Image File error.

Anyone know what might cause this to work for some and not for others?

Attaching a screenshot.

PowerEdge R710 Power for PCIe USB 3.0 Card

I want to add USB 3.0 functionality to a T710. The card I found requires power. I do not see extra power cables from the power supply, devices that originally came with the tower have wires going behind the back panel.

How do I power the new PCIe card? And, does anyone have experience in adding USB 3.0 functionality to a PowerEdge T710?

iDRAC on R720 non responsive

I have a r720 that fails to initialize the iDRAC on boot.  The system will finally boot into windows but I'm unable to get iDRAC to reset via the command "racadm racreset soft".  I've tried the soft reset of pushing the i on both the front and back of the device with no luck.  I've even unplugged the server, held the power button for over 10 seconds and it still will not initialize.  Any other suggestions?  My server went out of warranty a little over a month ago...my luck.

I must mention that the Dell site shows firmware updates for iDRAC but none of the exe files work in windows since it's non responsive.

PowerEdge r620 Grey Screen on boot - No Bios - no MAC address for DRAC on switch

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a PowerEdge R610 that I use for Cisco VIRL. It had been powered down for a long time (4 months) and when I went to power it on, all I saw was a grey screen. It flashed a few times like its gong to boot and show me something, but it just stays grey.

So far I have tried both VGA ports as well as reseating the CPU's and RAM.

Any ideas would be greatly appricated.
