Upgrading an R610 v1 from single to dual processors, because its v1 I have to stay 80/95W but was wondering if I could use the newer G1TJH heatsink made for the 130W procs. Did the mounting change at all or anything of the sort, or just its thermal dissipation capabilities? Could it be better? The G1TJH are easier/cheaper for me to get and I already have 1 TR995 installed, could they be mixed or would the thermal difference throw the system off? If I can use the G1TJH, would I be better off ordering 2 for the sake of symmetry?

Problem on a network port, then restore the iDRAC7
Good Morning,
I have a problem on a port on the network card of the server, since it generates conflict when I put an ip address, before configuring the iDRAC7 on that network port I had no problems, I placed an ip address and I grabbed the Ip. Use the racadm racresetcfg command to restart the iDRAC, but I do not know if the iDRAC always continues to use that network port even after iDRAC7 values have been reset. Beforehand thank you very much.

No USB boot option in the bios
I added memory to my Dell PowerEdge 1950 and now I don't have an USB boot option in the bios. I'm trying to re-install VMware ESXi 6.0 and can't due to this boot limitation. Any ideas on what I need to do fix this?

Replace R420 by importing the disks to another R420
We have two R420 servers. One is not booting correctly due to a SWC0700 idrac error. I would like to move the drives from the bad R420 to the spare R420. Should I be able to run an import on the PERC card on the spare server?

vrtx chassis management controller (cmc) redundancy is lost
recently i have configured dell vrtx server for our client. but there is a issue with CMC card.
in the cmc login interface, display some critical alert called "vrtx chassis management controller (cmc) redundancy is lost". both cmc firmware updated to latest version (2.23). one cmc card in active state and other one is in standby state. but still display that alert. i need know this is error or just a alert.
so please help me to resolve this issue.

Isolated blade server operation [M600]
Hi all,
I'm rather new to server operations and hardware, so please forgive me if I'm slow at picking up things.
I'm currently doing a project that requires me to operate the M600 blade server isolated.

What this project entails is me running the server for arbitrary purposes to generate heat within a sealed chamber while I operate a cooling system I designed to retrieve results.
As far as I know, a blade server generally operates within its chassis which holds many other components like the power supply.
I'd like to know if I am able to isolate a singular blade server to operate within my chamber.
If it is possible, what are the other components I might need aside from the power supply?
Also, are these components specially designed and customized by Dell for its chassis, or am I able to grab them off the shelves commercially?
I'm really very new to servers, so sorry if I appear really ignorant about them.

Old PE830 boot delay -- graphics card installed
Hello
I run an old PE830 machine which has been modified several times over the years.
Some details
BIOS A03
OS is Windows XP (SP3)
HDDs 160GB WD (disk 0), Seagate 500GB, Toshiba 500GB
Disks are not currently hooked up to the CERC card that came with the machine (this is still available, but removed).
Graphics card is GT610 NVidia.
Machine works well once boot process is complete, but there is a strange delay after the IPMI and BMC stages at boot. Blinking cursor shows in top left of screen for 30 seconds, followed by single beep, then repeat (usually twice more). Then Windows boots and eventually all is well.
Is this caused by adding a graphics card? A post elsewhere on these forums indicated there is no support for a graphics card on these servers.
Originally machine came with W2003 SBS.
The 'problem' dates from when machine was set up to dual-boot Windows XP and Linux.
Any help would be appreciated -- as mentioned, machine does work (quite well in fact), but delay is strange.

My question is, would a backup image from this machine be compatable with an R630 with dual E5 2620v4 processors??
Trying to mitigate support costs and covering multiple role servers with the same hardware.

Dell PowerEdge II, E141C CPU Mismatch with two X5365 processors
Hi all,
I have a PowerEdge II server at home and purchased a pair of X5365 processors to replace the two dual core processors that were in it.
When I first put them in, I was getting E141C CPU Mismatch, so I tried removing one and it still wouldn't post. I read online it could be a bios issue, so I updated from 2.2.X to 2.7.0.
It now works with one of the X5365's, but as soon as I put in the second one, it gives the E141C error.
I have checked to make sure they are a pair, and the information on top is identical.
I have also checked to see if any pins are bent on the board, but they look perfect to me.
I'd love to get this running with 8 cores, but I am having no success.
Any ideas?

PowerEdge T320 support for E5-2450L
Hello Community,
I want to know if the T320 supports the E5-2450L processor. Because on the product-page it says that Intel® Xeon® E5-2400 processors are supported but the whitepaper does not list the E5-2450L or E5-2450 processor.
Can anybody tell me if somebody has upgrade their T320 to this processor?

Cannot upgrade BIOS at DELL PE R710
Hello, sorry for my english if it has some grammar mistakes and sorry if its in wrong part of forum.
I have two DELL PE R710.
1st has 1.1.4 BIOS and 2nd is on 2.2.1
Tried to download BIOS from the support page and install in windows but no luck, during install its just closing the install after verifying or something like that and thats it. Could any one please show me where to download proper BIOS to get these beautiful beasts to 6.4.0 or later.

Poweredge 1300, circa 12/99 - can't find listing for this beep code
Client says screen shows message about cover removed but that has been there a while.
Someone shut it down to change out a UPS apparently, now when this machine is turned on it
emits a beeeeeep-beeeeep, a 1-second long beep followed by 1 second quiet, then repeats... iow it's beeping every other second.
It also shows message System fan not located. Would this be the reason for the beeps?

Dell R710 and IDRAC6
I am running a R710 Server. I am using an external VGA card instead of the one built in VGA port. When I access IDRAC using the external VGA card I get nothing displayed from the console. When I use the built in VGA port it works fine.
Is there a way I can pass the IDRAC display from built in VGA to external VGA or is there any other solution to this. Any tips would be nice.

I have a poweredge R330 running with E3-1270v5 processor, and it's sometimes randomly reboots.

My question is - this bug is affected to my server? And should i disable HT in BIOS settings? (all FW already updated to last available versions, OS - RHEL 7)

Raid 5 issue
Hello,
I have the following situation for Dell Server 2950 with Perc 6/i Raid Controller, the server has 3 Disks Configured as Raid 5 with SAS 300 GB each and one SATA Hard Disk configured as Raid 0 .
When Clicking Virtual Disk using open manage it shows the following :
Physical Disk 0:0:0 - Online
Physical Disk 0:0:1 - Online
Physical Disk 0:0:2 - Online
Physical Disk 0:0:1 down , we tried to replace it with 600 GB but it did not rebuild but it shows like this in Physical Disks : 0:33 (check attached) Online
We assign it as as "Global Hot Spare" (which is Wrong) and new hard drive has been built as hot spare.
Today we received new 300 GB, so we replaced the 600 and it has been built without issues, the Led blinking Amber instead of Green and Virtual Showing like this :
Physical Disk 0:0:0 - Online
Physical Disk 0:0:1 - Removed
Physical Disk 0:0:2 - Online
Physical Disk 0:33 - Online
And status of Virtual Disk is Green
Is this OK ? Can we restart the server ?
